Book Review: "Spy" By Danielle Steel

Danielle Steel has written a superbly crafted piece with Spy showcasing her talent and solidifying her role as the best writer of her time.

Alexandra our main character has so much charm, charisma, and fierceness.

I love strong woman and in this case Alexandra is leading a double life with good reason.
She is going behind enemy lines for a job that many never thought she would do nor could do but she proved them all wrong.

She originally volunteered with the Yeomanry to help the war effort in stopping Hitler until her life suddenly changed upon meeting her war hero Richard.

A whirlwind romance pursued leading to marriage and ultimately to childbirth and tragic death(s).

In the end she finds herself questioning her past, her ability for the future, and ultimately her own self interests.

I'm so happy it all worked out in the end...

A truly spectacular read from both the literature, historical, romantic, and thriller perspective.

Book Review: "Christmas Shopaholic" By Sophie Kinsella

Who doesn't love and adore Sophie Kinsella novels?

No matter what time of year Sophie never fails to amaze her readers in showcasing her superb talent as a writer.

What this novel brings is nothing short of splendid with Becky and her host of wild family members and off the wall friends.

It's all about online shopping, securing the best present for Christmas, billiard balls, and sex?!

Wait, what was that last comment?

Seriously, sex in a Christmas book?

Yes, well before you go off the wall it's all in good fun...

You might wonder about midway what billiard balls and sex have in common? Right?!
Well you can say that's the same as wondering what 'sprygge' and feeling good also have in common!

Trust me on this one it's not just about joining the crowd but becoming a leader and who knew London Billiards Club would have a seat at the table in all this fun.

If you think about what's one word to describe you?

I'll give ya time...

Ok, well for Becky that one word altered the rest of her life but in a good way!
I loved this book as it was that good old fashioned Christmas feeling with a new way to appeal the family in using 'What's App' while trying to please everyone, getting into a wee bit of trouble, but finding her way all over again.

Without giving anymore away this is a must read!

Book Review: "The Bitterroots" By CJ Box

It's like the Hatfields and the McCoys with a raging inner battle that is about much more than merely land rights. You know the line "Money is at the root of all evil." Don't forget it!!

Cassie is a former sheriff investigator with her own private practice. She enjoys being her own boss until one day she's asked to help exonerate a wealthy man who is accused of sexual assault against a young women.

That young woman is no random person as she's his very own 15yo niece Franny.
As the tension escalates CJ Box ratchets up the action with a wild off the hand trucker who is determined to silence Cassie and the crew.

It's after all Bitterroot Mountains a rural area in Montana known for its twisted family roots and larger than life individuals.

The bigger they are the harder they fall has always been my fav quote and that one seems quite fitting here as nobody is above the law. 

You know the other quote, "you can run but you can't hide" ....apply that one too!
While not everyone is guilty of a crime, and everyone has due process rights, this is one for the books as Blake the black sheep of the Kleinsassers may truly be innocent.

However, it takes a skilled and determined investigator to unravel the mystery surrounding it all.

I love the name of the one character John Wayne as it fits like a glove but he's no hero in this one.

You know my other fav quote? No? Money talks and BS walks so while the Earth may have plenty of money makers in its wake it also has some truly bad people.

I love how this winds around like a snake in the grass...

Perfect thriller from the Master of his Craft.

Book Review: "The Sleepover" By Carol Wyer

As teens the greatest joy was escaping the parents for a day or two and going to a friends house for a sleepover!

However, something tragically went wrong when a sleepover turns into a nightmare for Roxy and her family.

One child is dead and this may be just the beginning as the killer is still on the loose and it appears there's more to this internally than externally in terms of the finger pointing.

It may have nothing to do with the best friend Ellie after all as the stepfather seems more a target.

Why would anyone want to hurt and or kill a child? Why was Roxy admitted to the hospital for suspicious injuries?

Wait!

Breaking News!

We have now found not one but two bodies....the other body was the teens mother Cathy!

Holy smokes!

This one heats up quicker than my teapot!

You have to read this as it will blow your socks off!

Detective Natalie has her work cut out for her as the killer is not yet finished and everyone must watch their backs in this inner circle of doom.

Can Natalie uncover the truth before someone else goes missing or winds up dead?!
I hope so as this is a must read!

Book Review: Perfect Stranger By Jake Cross

Can you just imagine you're married to someone who may be a complete stranger & in addition to all that a young lady turns up on your doorstep claiming to be your spouse's daughter.

WTH?

Yes, but wait she's now claiming she has no where to go and utilizes every source of sympathy from Rose to move in with her and Chris.

Chris of course has doubts but as soon as she joins them the drama begins to unfold and the story takes on a whole new chilling and dire straits feel.

The atmosphere is thick so thick you can cut it with a knife as a fire is brewing literally and figuratively with a family friend missing and someone having ruined the neighbors fence.

WTH?

Yes, we are at it again but this time Chris may be on the receiving end as his whereabouts the day of the friend going missing is now in question and fingers as finger pointing begins to heat up.

OMG!

This is a must read by Jake Cross who has a great sense of humor to go with his amazing writing skills!

Book Review: "Her Silent Cry" By Lisa Regan

"Answer your phone, or your sweet little darling will die…"

My word it's terrifying to realize this could be anyone but here in this case this was a young girl that was kidnapped by a playground and now the kidnapper wants a ransom.

Regan ratchets up the action, building each plot carefully and meticulously until the twist and turns arrive.

When a son year old child goes missing it's all hands on deck to find her and Regan does a great job of bringing every character into play.

The pain and terror this brings to the family is portrayed in a light that is truly heart wrenching yet imaginable and that is the skill of a talented author.

A true thriller in every sense of the word! 

Book Review: "Black Rock Bay" By Brianna Labuskes

"Memories are funny, aren't they?"

Detective Mia never planned to return home but sadly two of her friends committed suicide or did they?

As we examine the past more closely we find 15 yrs later another case near St. Lucy off the coast of Maine which may bring the memories flooding back.
