Book Review: "Hawk" By James Patterson

 

Stop the ride, I want to get off.... This was not my thing and I don't even know where or how to explain it all. Hawk was supposed to fly not be executed. Fighting the world and saving others is her thing but then she disappeared. Someone is obviously closer to her than she may think. She can't recall much other than standing on a street corner, the exact time of day, and her parents leaving her behind till they finally returned. I'm not sure what to say other than you can try it on for size but don't force it to fit. Thanks to my local library for this newest piece in the YA genre.

Book Review: "Revenge" By James Patterson

As you know by now James Patterson is a marketing genius and his work is hit or miss for most readers and reviewers.

In this case it missed the mark and landed off in the bushes.

It began with what appeared to be a suicide -a young woman with a gun to her mouth-pulls the trigger.

It proceeds into a story of forced sex, the dark underbelly of the underground world of drugs &porn, and a man who was much like a father figure to Emma.

David Shelley was always a protector since she was a young girl but this time he was unable to save her and it cost her her life.

Revenge for me was just not what I was seeking as I need that spark to ignite the passions and create the thriller juices but this wasn't what I had in mind.

Thank you to my local library for this newest edition in large print which is great for the eyes.

Book Review: "Our House Is on Fire" By Jeanette Winter

 

Having read several books on Greta Thunberg this was sadly my least favorite.

While I enjoyed the background history, the concern over climate change, the policies and enforcement provided to create change it all just fell flat.

I love the fact a young woman wants to be the voice for change but sadly it feels like more and more people want to profit off of her actions and it's lost that immediate sense of urgency and appeal for normal citizens all around the world to join hands and collectively unite.

This for me was the perfect example of why less is sometimes more and the hope that Greta continues her activism without the spotlights and profiting can be the catalyst we all need.

Book Review: "The Missing Years" By Lexie Elliott

The moment when you realize you inherited a home that's creepy, downright dramatic, and terribly unusual in nature.

Even the animals won't cross it but you know it came with the territory-which includes a shared inheritance with your own father after your mother's passing.
However, what if the house is haunted?

What if someone is willing to do anything to not let you take your half share in the home?
What if someone is truly watching and could that someone be the house?

WTH?

Well, this one for me didn't take the cake but don't let my review lead you off the beaten path as many have felt this fit the bill.

Variety is the spice of life. Enjoy.

Book Review: "Eudora Honeysett is Quite Well Thank you" By Annie Lyons

A beautiful rendition of life in all its glam, glitz, and glory.

Eudora may be elderly but she ain't dead and though she's feeling blue she's still got plenty of pep in her step.

Sometimes sadness, depression, and gloom can wear on a person and this perhaps may have been part of the emotional pull in this one but when a new gal named Rosey -a young vivacious and energetic 10 year old- comes into her realm.

You see -Eudora is 85, alone, and ready to set her final plans into place in Switzerland via a clinic.

Until a new birth breathes new life into this trio as it now includes a widowed neighbor Stanley that seals the faith of them all.

It's an eye opening experience that magnifies life, death, and the powers that be to live a full, complete, and happy existence.

Book Review: "The Glass House" By Beatrice Colin

That moment when you believe you have the knowledge and gumption to make an assumption about someone only to learn you've missed the mark!

This is one of those stories that travel through time frames from 1912-current, through characters from one family to the next, and through ideas from gardening variety to beautifully landscaped botanicals.

One thing is for certain you won't leave this book feeling the same way you entered into the premise.

The notion that it was all over inheritance and estate planning was not quite truthful.

As it turns out there's so much more to this powerful piece of material that was created exclusively by Beatrice Colin.
Balmarra is the location in exquisite Scotland that turns our world upside down with concrete details that are etched in stone.

Until a visitor (estranged brother's wife Cicily) appears unannounced with a packful of suitcases, a daughter in tow, and enough drama to explode.

Book Review: "See Her Die" By Melinda Leigh

Hot blooded rage! All encapsulating revenge! Blood-curdling murder!

A race against time to find the killer before the hunter becomes the hunted!

If this isn't enough than imagine finding a body but it's not the one you're searching for nor is it in plain sight.

Talk about police procedures but dang finding the killer w/o many links isn't going to be easy.

Luckily our new sheriff and female heroine (Bree) can rely upon hot guy and former deputy (Matt) to warm things up.

If he can't melt the ice and break those barriers to find the missing links nobody can.

Oh, but wait the romance isn't all because that clock is still ticking and danger is lurking at every turn.

Could the 911 call to report a dead body be a hoax?

Was the homeless teen named Alyssa who claims to have seen her friend get shot in need of help herself?

Another fab read in this Bree Taggert series which has never let me down.

A wonderful writer with true grit and determination to make it stick as every fine tooth detail is laid out beautifully for readers to enjoy.

I love a great crime novel and this has all the earmarkings.
