Book Review: "The Coast to Coast Murders" By James Patterson and JD Barker

"There's a killer on the road, and nobody is safe."

Imagine going about your business and trying to behave in 'lock down' until you decide that split second to check your email.

Upon checking your messages you uncover the glorious invite only from the publishers with a widget attached for NetGalley and your poor unsuspecting neighbors now wonder why they hear screams from your direction.

Oh, it's all good. In fact it's splendid because I love surprises but even better when they arrive just a few days before this gal hits the BIG 47 and from two of the most well respected and highly anticipated authors of the thriller genre.

I'm beyond words by the writings of these two but to have them join hands for this encore was such a treat.

It all begins with Michael and his sis Megan Fitzgerald who've had an unusual upbringing having been both adopted by two psychologists.

There's apparently been a killing in which Dobbs and Gimble are on the case. However, this case just doesn't end in the LA vicinity but spreads like the plague to other locations causing near panic to ensue.

With time of the essence it's a race to uncover the truths, the M.O.'s, and the clues to hunt down the killer or killers.

However when a woman is found dead in the bathtub (Alyssa Tepper) it's a question of being framed for murder.

Dr. Rose and Dr. Bart are anything but perfect in fact they are shrinks who adopted Michael and worked extensively with him.

Now this story may get sidetracked by the unusual such as sparrow feathers near bodies and missing Joe DiMaggio cards so be prepared for the dark to enter.
Oh, did I fail to mention the licking of those feathers...WTH!!! YIKES!!
This plot literally thickens like gravy right before your eyes.

The writing in this was superb and easy flowing with characters that entranced the heart, mind, and soul.

I was captivated by learning more about this mysterious Michael and wondered about other characters like Mitchell as they entered the scene in later chapters.

It was truly a unique travel by book to explore the bizarre, the mental madness, the mystery surrounding mental illness and similar mental disorders on this revolving spectrum.

To learn that somethings can survive such pain and tremendous heart break is quite intriguing as a reader.

Thank you to James, JD Barker, Little Brown and Company (for this personal invite/auto approval at Netgalley) and Amazon Kindle for this ARC in exchange for this honest review.
