Book Review: "The Vanishing Sky" By L. Annette Binder

War is never pretty. War is dangerous, damaging, and destructive. Nothing is ever the same afterwards and this family proves this concept.

L. Annette Binder helps us understand the parents emotions as their two boys set off to go to war.

It's 1945 and Etta seems to have lost her mind worried sick over her sons Georg and Max and the Nazi Rule that has taken over Germany.

“There was no shelter without her sons.”

Her sons were her everything and when Max returns he looks sickly, thin, and not quite himself.

Meanwhile, Georg who was attending school for Hitler youth takes his own life in his hands and deserts his young battle bound soldiers.

It's a slow and tedious read based on the author's real life history drawing upon her father's time in the Hitler Youth.

An interesting debut from an upcoming new author that's a must read from Bloomsbury USA Publishing.

Thank you to L. Annette Binder, the pub, NetGalley, and Kindle for this ARC in exchange for this honest review.
