Book Review and Blog Tour: "Confessions From The Quilting Circle" By Maisey Yates

Tearful. Knee-Jerking. Heartfelt. Emotionally draining in the best ways.

First and foremost I must again say, "Thank You" to Harlequin Books for this profound honor to participate in this Summer 2021 Blog Tour.

This book was so riveting that I had to take some time to compose myself because it moved me to tears. This quilt making project wasn't just about 'finishing' the squares but in adding to them.

It was about what you didn't see behind the scenes. The making of the quilt. The meaning of the material and the vision it held to the family as a whole.

It was a setting in which the comforts of home where evident. A place where home would always be there to welcome you with open arms.

Maisey Yates created such a moving tribute to so many women's hard core issues. From childbirth, to unrequited love, to heartbreak and despair.

However, one particular moment that centered around a placental abruption absolutely did me a number because I was one of the lucky few who lived to tell. I nearly lost my son almost 21 yrs ago to this same condition in which I nearly bled to death resulting in an emergency c-section and life flight. He was sent to another children's hospital being born not just 5 weeks early but weighing only 4 lb. 13oz. with vater syndrome for life.

That same son will be graduating college in less than 2 weeks and I'm heartbroken for those women who weren't able to survive. Much of the glory goes to my mother who was working the nursery/nicu/obgyn delivery that day and demanded a blood transfusion with 2 pints of blood being administered to save my life.

There's always a story to be told and this book produces those stories that are interlocking and woven together -stich by delicate stich.

Yet, it's not those stiches that we think of when we think of our living legacy.

Will you be happy with your dash?
Were you joyous in life?
Did you accomplish your goals?

Life is constantly evolving, changing, and altering with the times.
We cannot remain stagnant and refuse to grow.

What's certain is that we must communicate. Not harbor resentments. Not hide away secrets.
Open ourselves up to our flaws. Speak our truths. Forever be a person of honor who believes in never leaving anything unsaid.

This book will live on as one of my favorites for the reasons expressed above but also for the writing style that was so spot on it brought a flood of emotion to the surface.
Words have meaning. There's so much power in choosing specific words to create this beautiful pattern on display.

This quilt was part of that by -product and the end result was masterful.

It's a must read for 2021! A keepsake to cherish. A memento to hold near and dear to one's heart.
