Book Review: "Branches Of Hope" Ann Magee

Absolutely breathtaking! A fine tribute to all those who perished on 9-11 and to those who continue to endure such hatred in America.

This story breathes new life into every ventricle as on the surface it appears as just another lovely illustrated and well written children's book.

However, the deeper meaning of the countless lives lost, the pear tree that was burned and scarred but alive, the re-birth of this tree gives all of us hope for a more diverse and unified country.

The fact that this tree was rescued, saved, and transplanted for these families and others to enjoy is absolutely beautiful.

The lessons this taught for our children in never giving up, in going that extra mile, in lending a helping hand, in offering a hand up not out shows the magic that can happen when we all work together.

However, the real tear jerking moment came at the end.

Sadly, we've seen all too much gun violence and other forms of abuse This tree has had the saplings used to give others that same 'joy' and 'hope' for a brighter world through the darkness we face.

The illustrations were powerful. The family unit was dynamic. The images were thought provoking.

I truly saved the best review for last because this book was worthy of more than just five stars.

Do yourself a world of good and not only buy this book but gift it as it would be a great graduation gift.
