Book Review: "The Butterfly Girl" By Rene Denfeld

I don't know how anyone can read this and not be totally swept away!

This moved me beyond words as it contained powerful writing, dynamic yet flawed characters, and a setting that was dark and mysterious.

Everything thrillers seek was in here and more.
The story begins with a young gal who was in an underground world using tricks to get by in more ways than one. It was sad, depressing, and as a mother my heart ached for her.

She was in essence lost both inwardly in her soul and outwardly as she sought comfort from those who simply were not in a position to provide.

Celia, becomes a target and Naomi (child finder) becomes her source of salvation.

It turns out Naomi is no stranger to missing children as she escaped captivity leaving behind her sister over 20 yrs ago.
That bond is what pulled and tugged in this ever thickening plot between Naomi and Celia who was living on Skid Row.

The yellow butterflies circling was ironic because when my 12 yo niece died in a tragic car accident that's exactly what circled around me and it was so darn noticeable. Yet, I was at OCMD not well known for having bright yellow butterflies on a boardwalk, not being near flowers of any sort.

Go figure as I went home having seen a double rainbow.

You must make your life your own and for these characters they are lost but they are all finding their way.

My heart goes out to anyone in such a no-win situation as Celia. The abuse of all forms is a hard read and yes, been there and done that and have the abuser's arrest papers to prove it all happened.

This book is so captivating in every sense of the word.
A must read!
