The very company that had built up Flint Michigan was the same General Motors that abandoned them.
The government also left them with Legionnaire's disease, skin diseases/rashes, lung diseases, and more.
It's a sad state of affairs when saving money requires drinking dirty river water that was treated with chlorine but that erodes the pipes in a failing infrastructure that's been ignored for far too long.
In fact those that were required to save money weren't the ones making the high end salaries in government while passing the buck it was the taxpayers, the citizens, the elderly on fixed incomes, the disabled, and sadly the children.
Those who didn't immediately pass away will have long term health issues including lead poisoning from this toxicity they were exposed too all while being told the water was fine, it was tested, it was within the range of acceptance.
It reminds me of a similar occurrence here in nearby states like Newark NJ that was mentioned but also in my home state of Pennsylvania with franking and of course it's always profit over people.
Those left behind have neither the income, nor the skills, nor the ability to sell their homes and exit out. We have many area residents with highly flammable drinking water that can be ignited and many here have passed away from similar ailments.
Who would want these properties especially those left behind that are now blighted eyesores?
I personally don't drink the water and I do have many similar ailments mentioned such as lung scarring, breathing difficulties, headaches, anemia, and the like including blood disorders.
It does make one wonder especially when it need not be taken orally to be affected as many are affected through inhalation, through exposure such as bathing, or simply from gardening in the soil.
It's sad to think that so many government officials who were voted in to protect and serve their constituents in their individual communities go to such extremes to hide the evidence and wish it away.
Even if caught it's the taxpayers who ultimately pay the price and in many cases the price is with their own lives!
A great new read by Candy J. Cooper.
