Book Review: "The Wedding Dress" By Danielle Steel

Danielle Steel brings us full circle in this new work involving four generations of women, their trials and tribulations, and their ability to capture each defining moment in their own unique ways.

History I pray doesn't repeat but if it does we shall pause and take a moment to learn the lessons. Trying times such as pandemics require much thought not of ourselves but of others and time to heal and renew and what better way than with a book such as this one.

Wedding dresses are more than just expensive pieces of fabric, borrowed family traditions and heirlooms, and or memories of a forgotten time.

They are rich with their own individual stories from a time honored traditions passed down from one generation to the next and the key ingredient in each is the desire to love and be loved.

Sure some of these unions may not end the way we hoped but LORD give us ladies and gents credit for trying! AMEN!

I enjoyed the fact this began with rocky historical times from the early to late 20's with the crash through the war, and drugs of the sixties and beyond.

Nothing was handed to any of the characters as they worked hard, forged ahead through difficult times and terrain, and made a mark with a name to accompany them.

In my day we were told for richer or poorer and the more traditional may be devalued to the point it's more of an after thought or till the next shiny new object comes along; but with Danielle Steel guiding this ship we get the full works that are ripe with tears of heartache, joy, and pain.

Now, if you think it's all rainbows, roses, and designer hand bags it's not.
Affairs, questionable actions, wives being silenced who turn the other cheek, and daughters who witness it all -isn't rosey but it's reality and it's why I love to read Steel's works.

Perfectly flawed family bonds that weather the storms in a way that may not be perfect but who wants that boy meets girl, gets married, and sail off into the sunset squeaky clean imagery.

So there you have it and I hope this finds you well. Stay home, stay safe, and love one another.

High risk covid 19 here. Till we meet again my friends.
