"Can she show society that a woman can have it all?"
This is the 2nd in the series after Mrs. Boots by Deborah Carr which I loved immensely and couldn't wait to get a copy of Mrs. Boots of Pelham Street.
This had that feel good feeling while perusing the idea that women can have both a professional and personal life and achieve what the mind can dream.
Florence has been married 21 yrs to Jesse who was never truly welcomed or supported by her mother.
In fact, she never felt he was good enough, that he would support her, be her cheerleader, nor ever measure up to what she needed.
They have two teen daughters (Dorothy and Margery) and John the son who just left for Canada after a disagreement over employment opportunities.
I loved the back and forth parental aspects, the marital conflicts, the ending in which Jesse and Florence were both given the ultimate recognition in two very different ways.
Acceptance, approval, recognition, love....it's what so many of us squander all our lives to receive.
It warms the heart that the Boots may struggle but will never succumb to the unknown pressures.
Deborah Carr is one of my favorite authors for the obvious reasons. It's a voyage, a journey, a destination within each novel and I can't wait to see what she brings to us next.
Thank you to Deborah, the pub, NetGalley, and Kindle for this ARC in exchange for this honest review.
