Book Review: "The Island Girls" By Noelle Harrison

Family ties. Sisters secrets. Abuse from behind closed doors. Survivor's guilt. Illness.

So much to tackle in this beautiful new work from Noelle Harrison in The Island Girls.

Emer and Orla are close but when an infliction strikes Orla succumbs and Emer must take the reigns.

She trots off with Lars but not before taking a job as a nurse and having Susannah as her patient whose battling cancer.

Meanwhile, we are between two thoughts and time frames (1960's and 2011) which interlap along with the characters.

We find that there's more to the relationships of these intrinsic sisters and the truth is quite disturbing in the case of Kate and her husband Matthew.

For she lived in a state of constant fog and thought she was in love but she's in love with a figment of what she wanted from a relationship and not the reality of an abusive spouse.

Upon finding she was pregnant she was ecstatic but those near here new it was another ploy to keep her isolated and controlled. "Now she's trapped forever."

With this noted, Susie hated Matthew and in fact had no kind words for his relationship.
Could she has wished ill will upon him after finding out Kate passed away?

Skeletons are flying out of the closets as we try to keep a tight lid upon the vast amount of information that is being revealed piece by bloody piece.

A thrilling and emotional ride as the suspense was riveting.

Thank you to Noelle, the pub, NetGalley, and Kindle for this ARC in exchange for this honest review.
