Surprise! You don't have to work harder just smarter!
I would add you don't need to 'prove yourself' because you are made in the image and likeness of God and you already possess everything you need to be successful.
Even if you don't practice or believe in faith then believe in yourself or as our first lady notes: Be Best!
Sure, many women may have been told to do it all but many women also know that men are walking away from their duties and responsibilities leaving it square on a woman's shoulders especially with regard to child rearing something I don't recall reading here.
This is more for the single gal not the divorced, bankrupt, left homeless from divorce with three kids scenario, who gave up her career to raise her family and was forced by courts to stay in an area w/o much stability or high salaried positions for the sake of the other parent.
IF the above is your situation I feel your pain, but life is hard , suck it up buttercup, and get movin' or so they told me.
When the earning potential is lost it's a whole different ball game and no matter what you put in place of the gap in time to raise your families for those 18 yrs to adulthood it won't matter.
So, fear not here's a healthy more upbeat positive showcase for you but just remember not everyone fits in the round peg.
Burnout to Balance is something we should never strive to achieve in fact we shouldn't aim to do it all.
What happened to asking courts to have the other parents help with their parental duties?
What happened to asking for a raise and equality in the workforce-Equal pay- and all that goodness?
What happened to employers hiring based on education and character rather than age?
Since when have we become a nation of nepotism, corruption, and the almighty dollar in hiring practices? Connections are great and lord knows we all have them but why is what's in my wallet the most important factor to the human resources department?
You do realize that women who are left w/o credit can't even get an apartment or job? RIGHT?
I'd compound this problem with women with young kids or kids in general who are declined from renting based solely on the landlords notion that kids ruin properties.
Or how about if you have an active PFA (Protection from abuse order) against your former spouse of an eleven yr marriage...You do understand all of this is taken into account when trying to obtain employment, Right?
Or what about that car needed to get to the workplace? You understand that if you're poverty stricken that vehicle is considered an asset if receiving EBT or TANF?
The problem is when you try to fit everyone into this general dynamic you forget many of us who are older, have been searching for employment for many yrs, and yet still have the same pressure to be 'SUPERWOMAN' while raising a family w/o income.
There's many external factors being left out that I wish were included here by this author.
I hope you read this one with a grain of salt and ladies please know your worth.
So often the haters will try to bring you down. They will label you crazy if you speak out.
I say to the haters thank you! Yes, because you made me stronger in your ignorance of the truths.
God bless and do carry on as a warrior, thriver, and survivor especially those who've dealt with abuse because as you know it's never your fault nor are you to blame.
The system is rigged against women but perhaps some sprinkling of fairy dust with rainbows and roses is warranted.
Do your best and forget the rest!
Amen!
