Book Review: Everyone Knows How Much I Love You" By Kyle McCarthy

This was so close to a five star that I'm cringing but safe to say it's a solid four star review.

It's a powerful and intense female friendship that exists between our two main stars of the show.
Rose and Lacie are the ying and yang of any chilling yet co-dependent relationship in which one needs the other.

Rose is 30 years old and doing her thing. She's a writer but she's also vindictive and loose with open relationships. As in she gets around. As in affairs and sex go hand in hand.

Now, in terms of Lacie -she's not all innocence- but she's much more flavorful and has everything going for her that Rose is lacking -making her the perfect target.

You know it's really bizarre to allow someone into your life, sharing a home together, and writing about the betrayal of this same friend...backstabbing isn't my thing.

Of course, Rose wants what she can't have in Lacie's boyfriend and she seems to have had her cake and eaten it too in the form of a tragic ending involving a sauna.

To add to the strangeness we add this craving for Ian which left me dumbfounded as he seemed to do nothing but 'use' Rose for sex and toss her aside as insignificant in his life.

If that wasn't maddening we then progress to this whole idea that actually came about earlier that replays in one's mind involving the police interrogation and some sort of accident at Yale Ave....

That wasn't the only part that was confusing as I was again dumbfounded by the build up and subsequent let down in the end that went from a basement scene which felt like a major climax -pardon the pun-to a canoe- that felt like poof there it is? WTH?? Was that about?

Did I miss something? There's some issues similar to this involving the entire issue surrounding the education and procurement of funds for writing studen'ts essays and also more questions I have surrounding all this 'f-n' sex as if it was pleasurable with someone grabbing one's hair, yanking their head upon a man's privates, etc...

Either I lost touch with reality or this was sexually abusive and disgusting and I'm leaning towards the latter as sex and love are two different sensations and emotions.

As my malignant narcissist ex-husband once put it -he could have sex with anyone and believe me-he did- but love is something he could never do because he lacked that emotional connection.

So, there you have it- do with this what you will- but if you're not into those strong sexual issues with harsh treatment of women than please pass this on.
The way the women were portrayed as sexual objects is something a strong feminine woman like myself takes offense too.

Thank you to Kyle, the pub, NetGalley, and Amazon Kindle for this ARC in exchange for this honest review.
