The setting is in the White House during Franklin and June Pierce's presidency.
The drama unfolds the minute they set foot on the train to travel to DC as it runs off the rails causing their son Bennie to perish.
Now he's taken ownership over the White House with glaring detail.
As the story progresses we are entrenched in the descriptive nature of the time and setting in which American Indians, slavery, feminism, and politics all played a central role.
It's a story told from the third person narrative that often gets confusing but in this case doesn't lead to ego centric demeanor on the part of the author.
It's a slow but methodically situated character driven power story with thrills and chills that run down the spinal column throughout the entire work.
Thank you to Andrew, the pub, NetGalley, and Amazon Kindle for this ARC in exchange for this honest review.
