Book Review: Little Cruelties By Liz Nugent

Offering a hand or holding one back from achieving all of one's talents is something that must be examined in this new thriller by Liz Nugent dealing with more than just the entertainment industry.

Be careful who you trust because blood isn't always thicker than water and family isn't all it's cracked up to be (no pun intended).

Some say they can't stand the bickering between these three Drumm brothers while others say it's remarkable to be able to write in different prose to examine or re-examine the jilts, jives, and offenses each suffered sometimes at the hands of the other.

Sure these men acted more like spoiled brats fighting over everything from girls, to mother's attention, to drama but having had three brothers as the only girl it could and can get nasty.

The nasty is the key here as Liz notes writes out of the gate someone will die because after all it begins at the brother's own funeral but will it be William the divorced man of the hour, Brian the alcoholics anonymous recovering alcoholic, or the rich and successful but mentally unstable with drug issues-Luke?

My word this goes between time lines to rehash the issues but it's worth the wait because it's about closure, it's about writing the wrongs, it's about revenge in a way...or was that deceit...

Well, look with grown men who are connected to a dysfunctional family there's bound to be issues over women, drinking, drugs, and sex with multiple partners and this can lead to consequences.

You don't need me to tell you this but those consequences have to be addressed because you can't continue without paying the piper as my pop would say and if you lie in bed there's going to be payback and sometimes payback is a biotch.

As a single mom with three kids from one marriage I get the fact it's not everyone's cup of tea to step up to the plate at the table that another man left.

So perhaps we need to address this issue down the line because this family especially the parents both had their own skeletons and it trickled downward to the other members.

Without giving too much away I will just say this was damning in every way....

Thank you to Liz, the pub, NetGalley, &Amazon Kindle for this ARC in exchange for this honest review.
