Book Review: "Where Dreams Descend" By Janella Angeles

Magicians disappearing?

Wait-What? What kind of freak show is this...or is it?

This seemed to be a magic show with all the side parts and characters but it turned out to be quite the dangerous game.

Kallia is playing for her life after being raised by a reclusive magician named Jack and now she's trying to earn her spot in this aspiring magician contest to prove her worth.

She's a strong feminine character but she lacks the ability to continue the climb to greater heights and became stale and stuck in this 'prove all' scenario when she's already been shown to 'be best.'

Jack was mostly my favorite out of them all because of his ability to be all to Kallia. He's her captor, her protector, her teacher but he also knows who he is.

The challenges weren't all that challenging and for me it felt contrived and the mystery that surrounded Glorian was the best feature.

Overall, the stage is set for shock and awe value with several areas of murkiness so for those who are sensitive to emotional abuse, misogyny, blood, threats, and manipulative/controlling ways -you may want to take a pass or proceed with caution.

A good read with enough to keep readers especially young readers involved.

Thank you to Janella, the pub, Netgalley, and Amazon Kindle for this ARC in exchange for this honest review.
