Book Review: "The Gilded Wolves" By Roshani Chokshi
“Nothing but a symbol? People die for symbols. People have hope because of symbols. They're not just lines. They're histories, cultures, traditions, given shape.”
― Roshani Chokshi, The Gilded Wolves
“But what no one tells you is that even when you decide which world you will live in, the world may not always see you as you would wish. Sometimes it demands that you be so outrageous as to transcend your very skin. You can change your name. Your eye colour. Make yourself a myth and live within it, so that you belong to no one but yourself.”
― Roshani Chokshi, The Gilded Wolves
This was the second of this author's work that I've read and it didn't disappoint.
The Gilded Wolves was a storytelling masterpiece -ripe with flavor-true to point with characters-splendid on detail that made it believable and credible -with twists that make it pure magic.
I can't say enough about the love of reading when it comes to this author and her work because she truly transports you to another make believe world that creates a fantasy and illusion all her own.
It's that type of writing that one falls in love with everything to come before and after each one of her novels and long after you close the book the thoughts, reflections, ideas, and emotions continue flowing like a wild river in your mind.
For one such example of this atmosphere you need only look at the way in which we are intrigued and delighted by the senses: "I don't want to be their equals. I don't want them to look us in the eye. I want them to look away, to blink harshly, like they've stared at the sun itself. I don't want them standing across from us. I want them kneeling."
It's not for show but for enjoyment and this is a book that will demand your attention as the author savors every last letter in direct correlation to the action being presented ...."Lust is safer than love, but both can ruin you."
Sensuality, poetic justice, and beautifully scripted is just some words that come to mind when you reach the climax of this work.
"I think the greatest power is belief, for what is a god without it?"
Truth be told it's splendid and I do hope you enjoy it all as well as I have.
Thank you to Bibliotheca for this e-read in exchange for this honest review.
