Book Review: "Love Poems for Anxious People" By John Kenney
Love Poems for Anxious People did nothing for me other than offer some new comedic lines but lacked that empathy and compassion that we truly need for those suffering.
As someone on the front lines volunteering in hospitals, at local food banks, at local shelters it's not surprising I come across all types of human beings from a variety of backgrounds.
I was hoping that this book would shed light upon some deeply emotional yet real topics by someone who they themselves suffered from anxiety or similar ailments.
Yet the author immediately writes about how he has no connection and in fact makes an effort to separate from those who do as if it's a negative and not a positive.
Many of the worlds most famous writers were mentally unhealthy and suffering from some form of mental illness so it's not shocking to learn that the funniest comedians also had similar.
It's ok to admit to being anxious or mentally ill and I pray in the years to come those who do can find comfort in books that offer such compassion.
This for me wasn't what I was hoping for but it was ok.
Thank You to John, the pub, NetGalley, and Amazon Kindle for this ARC in exchange for this honest review.
