Book Review: "The Captive" By Fiona King Foster

One of the biggest things for me with debuts is finding one that entices me to continue reading even if things seem so far fetched that they become unbelievable.

This has the dystopian feel, a rare glimpse living in a rural atmosphere cut off from the norm, and still a bit of techno with cell phones.

Now, I'm all for rugged and rough but this was just too unfathomable beginning with the fact the family was trying to make ends meet, sell their horse, and then have zero transportation having to go off on foot to get a bounty for a captured fugitive.

If this wasn't off the charts we then find out the mother (Brooke) has a hidden past, has two kids, is married, and finds a fugitive staked out on her property.

Add to this the damn guy -Stephen- is like Chuckie (the horror doll) that doesn't seem to go away. No spoilers but gosh darn it -this guy has nine lives like the cats.

Now, we find hot embers, pitchforks, and craziness exuding from all four corners?

I'm just not into this one for the reasons as explained above, but if thrillers and noir is your thing, than you may be front and center in love with this one.

Thank you to Bibliotheca for this e-read.
