Book Review: "Open House" By Katie Sise

“The inches between them felt like a physical presence, like something Priya could wrap her hands around and squeeze the life out of.”― Katie Sise, Open House

Oh, you know just hanging out on the edge of a cliff, in the cold, waiting.... Emma! Come on girl!

Ok, Hayley is Emma's sister and she knows there's more to this story than just a bangle bracelet found in the woods.

There's more to this than just an 'open house' which was like a casting call for these actors - I mean- characters.

There's more to it than numerous adulterous affairs. Right?

Yes, and this is just some of the twists and turns that readers must navigate.

While I'm shocked by the low reviews I'm not all too surprised as many of these fellow reviewers seem to be off the mark since the end of last year.

It was quick, it was predictable if you have a magic 8 ball or some other form of cognitive mental awareness more than most, and it was a journey.

I didn't have it all figured out, but I guess I'm the dummy in this group with the dual masters.
While I knew something fishy was up with the art student gone suddenly missing I didn't know how it all would play out amongst the friends, and educational staff, and another woman in particular namely Priya was her teacher, Priya had connections to two students that either went missing or were injured in some form, Priya was also the wife of a teacher that wasn't quite up to par, and Priya in the end was front and center in the advancement of the DNA circle of conspirators.

I also didn't foresee the abuse that Emma suffered that went unnoticed by many and the fact that one guy in particular seemingly just walked away from it all in the end while telling another gal she's simply, "dead." If only we can all just move along now. Talk about bone chilling!

Need we forget this has a dual timeline that goes from the day Emma went missing and travels back in time to ten years earlier.

In addition, we also have Josie, real estate agent and Emma’s best friend, that's attacked during the Open House. Clearly, there's a connection between events but I surely didn't have a clue.

If you love a mystery, a thrill, a chill this would entice you and was written with short bursting sentences to make quick flippers.

Thank you to my local library for this curbside pickup.
