Book Review: Winterkill By Ragnar Jonasson

A vacation hot spot turns into a deadly nightmare and only one man can end it all!

First, I must note: It's honestly a grand old pleasure to have obtained this ARC copy via Orenda Books and my gratitude is forever intertwined with them for bringing such wonderful authors for review.

This is the story of Ragnar Jonasson who is the King of Thrillers of the Icelandic Noir!
This starts in a ball of fury and surely ends the same way- with passion, with intensity, with a vision like no other in its class or genre.

First, the premise itself was fascinating as we've come to believe a young lady has been killed, found dead on a busy shopping district, the main street of this Northern Iceland town.
Three days before Easter is when this all went down for our dearly departed Unnur who was just nineteen years old at the time.

With her entire life ahead of her, why on Earth would she be in this position, dead in a pool of blood with little to no clues?

As only Ragnar can do- he exudes a sense of foreboding yet mystique and lands us squarely into the hearts of minds of these fully developed and engulfing characters. Each with their own visions, their own morals, and their own beliefs.

In this horrific situation the family wants answers and seeks them from Ari Thor Arason the police investigator assigned to the troubling rooftop balcony incident.

You do realize that diaries and journals always speak volumes and when Unnur's is located it's a chilling development. The idea that she perhaps was murdered and not committed suicide comes into play.

In addition, an older man at a nearby nursing home seems tangient in his thoughts, as he's fully admitted to others that she was murdered by writing those words on his room wall. However, his age may combine with his past to lead this meandering investigation astray for the time being.

With a blizzard on the horizon, with suspects coming to the forefront, with danger lurking all around -we must end this madness! Don't you think?!

Oh, my friends-you'd be wrong as the party is just getting heated and the enemies are just coming out of the woodwork.

This novel is the sixth of the Dark Iceland series and creates a fascinating tale of intrigue, electrifying tension, and heart pounding action.

I was lucky enough to capture books #3 and #6 in this series and will now have to backtrack to try to get my hands on the others I have unfortunately missed.

Silence sadly can be golden for some but not for victims of abuse. In this case we have a situation in which a young woman was being led astray by those she trusted and one person in particular took the bull by the horns and sought to retain her memory by getting justice the good old fashioned way.

When you lose so much of what you value most- the story goes- you're bound to lash out eventually and once you strike you may be surprised what karma has in store for you.
I believe the word I'm seeking is provocation - isn't that right - Mr. Jonasson?!
Hot damn!
The teacher is in the house and I'm jotting notes to capture it all down.
As they say all's well that end's well but in this case we don't just have one pool of blood we might just have two!

YIKES!

The tables have
turned my friends so watch your back because you can't upset the head of the family!

Kudos, a job well done!

Thank you, Ragnar Jonasson, the publisher -Orenda, and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for this honest review.
