Book Review: "The Family Remains" By Lisa Jewell

What can one say other than it's Lisa Jewell & you expect the best and get better!

The Family Remains was the perfect thriller that tied up many loose ends from Lisa's first piece & stand alone work -The Family Upstairs.

If you're a speed reader like me than you'll know that you can't possibly remember all fine tooth details from every book especially when you read 1,300 books a year.

Therefore, don't be too hung up on details because you'll be just fine with the blurb and past retained knowledge as I certainly have found myself to be.

With this said, DCI Samuel Owusu found bones belonging to a cold case in which 3 people were found dead in a kitchen of this fab mansion some 30 years ago.

Rachel Rimmer's husband -Michael- is found dead in a cellar in France.
Lucy Lamb meanwhile, fled London some 30 years earlier.

Of course, Bridge Elspeth Veronica Dunlop Evers aka Birdie went missing in '96 and possibly may have cut ties with family as she's known to be the 'Black Sheep'.

Yikes! She's just been found dead at 32yo?! Are you kidding me?

Ok, well there's two women who could've wanted Michael dead. Lucy the 1st wife and Rachel the 2nd wife.
Seems there's a wee bit of volunteer by force for information using 'blackmail' here and money being the root of all evil is tied in ever so nicely to some nake pics floating in social media land.

Henry as you might have guessed ain't a peach he's a con artist. He's dressed to impress(you might say) and he's changing up the story as we speak. He loves to become someone he's not and play the role like a fiddle.

In the end, it's all about family closure & Lucy and daughter Libby are in on the plan to uncover the truth about her real dad.

Just one last thing...Kris Doll if you're listening -you're a bad, bad, chameleon and that goes for you too Henry ;)

Thank you to Lisa Jewell, Bibliotheca (Smart Libraries Online Library Service) and all those who love thrillers! Keep on reading!
