Book Review: "The Light We Carry" By Michelle Obama

First Lady Michelle Obama is such a national treasure in more ways than one. She's honestly the First Lady that I can relate too on a multitude of levels because she's real, honest, and praiseworthy.

If anyone should write advice it's her because she literally has been the rock, the foundation, and the gem that gave us all 'hope' in 'darkness.'

Her signature phrase, "When they go low, we go high" can be dissected to mean a number of things depending upon the person's current situation. For me, it meant to take the high road because all else is beneath you. When people try to drag you down, act as if you don't matter, pretend you have no value it's imperative to uncover your own self worth and self love.

Her personal anecdotes and stories are so telling, heartwarming, and sould inducing that it's hard not to LOVE Michelle.

I certainly enjoyed the finer details about her work/life balance and most especially with regard to parenting and relationships in all facets of her life.

We all face inadequacies, we all feel lesser than, we all know that life isn't always fair.

It's how you turn that energy into a healing, positive, uplifting message that resonates for everyone. You're not alone is a common phrase I enjoy using for my own self help site dealing with narcissism. For Michelle, she tells us that not only are we not alone but that we share common values, dreams, and philosophies.
We're more alike than we're different.

So, take a break. Step into your light. Shine on!
