Book Review: "One Life" By Megan Rapinoe

It's quite simple really: Once you make it to the top you have got to assist others in using the platform for the benefit of those left behind.

I fully support Megan in all of her efforts not just in equality but in ending misogyny because it's unsustainable to live without earning what you're worth.

A brief example: During a recent Walmart trip I overheard an older white male explain how nobody wants to work.

More jobs than people. I turned and explained how I'm in extreme poverty, 10 yr job search, over/underqualified homemaker x 20 yrs x 3 kids x solo effort after divorcing (even throughout marriage as spouse resided 5 states away for 11 yrs of entire marriage).

I explained how I was left bankrupt, homeless, LT unemployed, and yet when I conducted 'cold call' interviews I was told I came across as 'entitled' for 'asking' for employment this after 20 yrs volunteering working for 'free.'
This is how men view women and it's disgusting, degrading, and humiliating.

I went on to explain how prior to having three kids and marrying I worked two jobs to put self into college. That factory work paid $7.25hr, offered 10 cent raises, $25 one time bonus before TAXES as top producer in two departments plus associate of the month, and left me with spinal stenosis, a 50 lb indentation upon my head from metal trolley that fell upon me, ganglion cyst right hand requiring surgery to simply use my hand, and lung issues from diesel fumes including but not limited to COPD, asthma, 30 yrs pneumonia, last year first time confirmed influenza A after flu shot resulting in sinus tachycardia in ER.

In fact if you need a second example: My daughter just received All State in Volleyball here in Northeastern Pennsylvania. Do you know not one media outlet went to her quarterfinal game.

Do you know when she was discussed in media they put the smallest photo they could find no larger than a stamp yet requested a full head shot for publicity.

Do you know that men who play football, basketball, soccer, or cross country are heroes here yet women playing volleyball are barely recognized even after winning such high honors.

Do you know after receiving All State award after being beat down by such males that she still didn't feel she deserved the honor as if something she's never good enough.

It starts early folks and we have got to recognize and honor hard work just like the male counterparts.

When my daughter played basketball we had to wear boys dirty uniforms.

They claimed the private school couldn't afford new attire for the girls even though we pay out over 12k a year tuition unless you fall in the poverty guidelines such as self.

Do you know her male basketball coach yelled at her so much she and all of her teammates quit.

Do you know that this same basketball coach admitted via text to throwing my daughter under the boss in providing her the varsity spot but only giving her two days to learn all the plays and then hunkering down upon her for every minute mistake while ignoring the others on the team for the same.

Folks, this is reality but this doesn't have to be our new norm.

While Megan isn't suffering financially she still deserves to be paid equally to her male counterparts in the same professional career.

To be provided significantly less is just the top of the sphere because the glass ceiling also needs to be broken for inclusion rather than the constant exclusion.

Placing women in smaller facilities, not providing proper equipment, not giving full access to the wide range of services offered to men is obnoxious and arrogant.

So I leave with this misogynistic statement in which a male declares how men are more important to U.S. Soccer ,"... Not only did we have less 'ability', 'skill', 'speed', and 'strength' than the men, but that being a male player 'carries more responsibility within U.S. Soccer" than a women's team does."

This is the type of thing individuals will use because they feel threatened, they are beneath women, and they know should women have their say they would crush a man!

Enough said -Women Rule The World and if you need more proof just read this novel!
