"Trust your instincts just like the bees do."
No doubt, love is a process, love is blind, and love is something magical.
Nicholas Sparks capitalizes on that fantasy of having it all even when the deck is seemingly stacked against you.
It's a rough and tumble ride as we venture out on a limb in both senses with Trevor -who is battling PTSD- from trauma sustained from a serious injury.
Natalie on the other hand isn't ready to open her heart or her mind and in fact is quite stand-off-ish!
As a Sheriff she's ready to move forward to Baltimore as her career seemingly takes precedence.
So, can things change for the better between these two?
Perhaps the reasoning as to why Natalie seems so distant will come to light but not before some pain is initiated.
Nicholas Sparks has a tear jerker within The Return as both these individuals are dealing with some might painful issues that would set anyone back but for these two -it's warriors-full steam ahead.
My word, that moment of the true reveal was so touching and emotionally riveting that I'm not sure there's a dry eye in the house.
As if this complicated set up wasn't enough to entice readers the bottom drops out with the teen girl -Callie- who enters with quite an interesting scenario.
How does one move forward from the pain?
Can forgiveness be initiated?
Trevor has an interest in not only Callie but her connection to his grandfather death until a sudden crisis triggers full on panic in race for the truth.
What does one do when they lose the will to live?
The Return shows that even faced with obstacles love seems to find a way in to the heart.
Opening up those pathways takes some TLC but this was truly the medicine we all needed to take in the form of one great novel by one of the best.
I've never been more excited to, "harvest the honey"-especially with this ending that melted my heart.
