Book Review: "What's Left Of Me Is Yours" By Stephanie Scott

What's Left Of Me Is Yours looks into the act of infidelity, betrayal, love, lust, and custody.

However, it addresses so much more than mere labels as the cultural aspect of Japan takes precedence with a strong demand for "wakaresaseya" (literally "breaker-upper"), a person hired by one spouse to seduce the other for a fast track in divorce proceedings.

While I've not known of this covert industry it's apparently widely used for gaining the upper hand so it's not too far fetched when it's used upon Rina.

When her husband hires Kaituro to do his dirty work and have an affair with her he never expected it would take such a drastic turn resulting in love with a twist of lemon.

Oh, and you'll want to keep on the beat as this one drums to a different drummer with abuse being the key along with violence.

Sadly, there's a child involved and custody arrangements also come into play here.

The prose itself was beautifully written with characters that will dance in your mind for eternity.

I cannot imagine this scenario playing out in real life as it was frightening, heartbreaking, and utterly emotionally draining.

I've happily divorced a malignant narcissist who left me for dead with three kids but I don't know if that compares to the level of horror found within the pages of this newest work by Stephanie Scott.

What a magnificent thriller!

Thank you to my local library during a pandemic for this curbside pickup read.
