Book Review: "The Silent Treatment" By Abbie Greaves

The Silent Treatment took me back to a time in my former marriage, a time when I felt unappreciated and ignored, a time in which it was nothing more than a revolving door simply put we lived like two ships travelling in the night with very little communication and or love.

Perhaps, you've felt that same feeling: When marriage was nothing more than shared spaces but not shared memories.

When one spouse had a disconnect with the world around him or her and the other spouse simply went through the motions void of all human emotion as it was being internalized.
This is the story of a family in which the couple hasn't spoken for the past six months.
Why is a question you might ask but the answer isn't all that simple.

Told through the eyes of the mother and wife -we travel back in time- to embark on this journey that was as revealing as it was hurtful and full of emotional appeal.

It was reality and truths that came to head against the backdrop of feeling unappreciated and ignored.

With most situations of similar value it leads to miscommunication, hurt feelings, and the need to belong.

In more simpler terms it leads to going outside of the marriage to get your needs met.
Raising kids especially teens is the hardest job on the planet.

Eleanor was not an easy birth but taking a life is not an easy solution via sleeping pills.
Poor Frank aka Professor Hobbs as he now must address what he's been hiding all this time.
Ok, well Eleanor is now 18 yo but she's also processing a shocker that when revealed with rock the parents world and those who know and love her.

Overcompensation and over protective nature of parents leads to some complicated reactions via the children.

In this case the canal is where we found the remains.

The ending was quite powerful, dramatic, and attention worthy.

I absolutely was floored by this one because it was relatable yet demanding of your time and attention.

Many heavy topics were discussed and addressed including adoption, abortion, miscarriages, and more.

Difficult times, difficult births, difficult marriages - it's all in here.

Thank you to Bibliotheca for this ARC in exchange for this honest review.
