Book Review: "The Skylark's Secret" By Fiona Valpy

A skylark is noted for its song especially in flight.

This is the beautiful and elegant story of a laird in love, a daughter seeking comfort and peace from a cottage that hold so many secrets, and a time of great unrest and tragedy.

It's also a story of Flora and Alec, Lexie, and Daisy -one in which they all come together but in a very disheartening tragic end.

The ships sail but sadly this pattern is all too common in love and war.

Will Lexie finally be able to forgive the past, grieve her losses, and move forward to find her place in this world?

Fiona and Lexie are mother and daughter. Fiona took on a position as an ambulance driver during WWII while Lexie was a former musical theatre star.

Lexie returns from London to uncover the truth not only about her father who died prior to her birth as well as her mother's well kept secrets while falling in love with the laird's son Alex after encountering the cold shoulder from his own father.

It's a wonderful storyline rich with emotion and raw talent from Fiona Valpy.

An author that's relatively new to me but surely won't be the final novel as this captured the essence of superb writing and craftmanship in every sense both literally and figuratively.

Thank you to Fiona, the pub, NetGalley, and Amazon Kindle for this ARC in exchange for this honest review.
