First and foremost I want to thank my public library for having this displayed so thoughtfully as to capture my interest among the other Netflix options or else I probably wouldn't have seen it.
This is the story of women. Women who are found to not be 'credible or believable' as was my own case yet we have one thing in common- we are all speaking the TRUTH it's just the powerful elite mostly white egotistical males refuse to listen as they are in the power and control business of silencing victims and taking away their very rights.
This is a powerful story (stories) about rape and sexual assaults and the justice or lack thereof that resulted upon these women who courageously stepped forward to share their tragic and heart breaking stories.
These are not victims as these ladies paved the way for others and are in fact warriors.
They are thrivers, survivors, and embody every meaning of the word 'empowerment.'
Sometimes these men are caught using DNA, sometimes eyewitness testimony, sometimes even because of their own mistakes in feeling 'above the law' in believing they'd never be caught.
It's that which we speak today and everyday and for which we shall not waiver to seek justice for all.
In the most powerful words I know I share the survivors words,"All I did was survive and I was criminalized for it."
Can you imagine coming to grips with this head on reality check?
This is what our world today looks like and sadly it has got to be changed because of this statement," Rape is a most detestable crime. It's an accusation easy to be made and hard to be proved, and harder to be defended by the party accused, the never so innocent."
So, this is what we've become "We find that girls utilize the rape card to mess with people."
I will never stop speaking my own truths from dealing with the ramifications of a malignant narcissist that was abusive in every form. I will never stop defending women who have experienced the same abuse. I will never remain silent when we have men using their body parts as weapons.
"Like a wolf, he was a predator."
It's darn time we acknowledge the truths.
We hold the power ladies. Use it wisely to speak your truths. Hold your head high and never forget the power lies within. Never give up!
Thank you to this author because it's a story that must be told.
We don't want money, we don't want fame, we want justice!
