Dot is one heck of a story teller and the imaginative aspect is something I truly admire in all her reads.
What I didn't care for here was over dramatization as I'm a firm believer in the less is more factor.
I understand the dilemma. Men usually suck. These boys cannot continue to be boys. They must grow the hell up and be held accountable. Perhaps the drinking binges would've helped in that regard as it was way too much daily.
Overall, I couldn't get into the mindset of vengeance for sexual abuse and when it did come up it felt contrived without thoughtful reflection. A more of that 'throw it out there' kind of feel and see what reactions come back. Or as some thoughtful reviewers noted it was like 'a caricature' in the book.
In addition, everything and everyone revolved around Ellie being behind it all but nobody seemed to think that the men being killed and fed to alligators could've been perpetrated by someone else.
What if Ellie was framed could be a way to go here and nobody seemed to go there ...or at least not in the beginning.
Look here's the cold hard facts- "This world's always going to hurt women..You can't change the world."
OH BUT I BEG THE DIFFER-WE CAN & WE MUST!!
We can't continue down this god forsaken egotistical and self centered ways and I pray for all women we move the pendulum and swing it forward in a new direction.
I love Dot and I've enjoyed several of her books and will continue to look forward to new works. So please keep them coming.
