Book Review: "Blue Ticket" By Sophie Mackintosh

Blue Ticket is a ride into dystopian feminism like we've never seen before!
Buckle up because this is your 'ticket' to declare your 'womanhood' which will begin shortly upon your menses.

Now, for those of us who have issues with such experiences including childbirth and for which are strong feminist this book may 'trigger' you but it's a discussion that fits into the current state of affairs centering upon woman's rights, their voices, and issues that pertain to them for which they have no or limited say.

Blue Ticket offers young woman two categories of placement -Blue -NonMothers seeking their freedom in 'singlehood'- or white-mothers-and non freedom as wives.

Calla is our main character waiting for just such a ticket.
Will it be blue or white and who is making such decisions on her behalf Doctor A or B?

To be fair Calla isn't sure she wants children so when she receives the blue ticket she isn't too set back but dislikes the fact she's watching the world pass her by without being able to make her own educated choices..."I was dark wind and dust blowing across a landscape, and there was nothing anybody could do for me.''

With this noted, the author has created a whirl of a discussion with the right of choice, of freedom, of the human mind, body, spirit.

I'm not a quiet withdrawn nor secluded individual who allows egotistical white racist and bigoted men make the call on my behalf and what I see today is angry men who should've been stopped years ago and not given so much power, authority, and attention as narcissistic and toxic individuals.

We truly need change as America is headed in the wrong direction and this book will -if nothing else- create much needed dialogue that hopefully will create the discussion we all need to embrace.

Thank you to Bibliotheca for this interesting read utilizing characters that are not 'loose' but human, emotionally raw, and developing into creativity beyond our years.
