Book Review: "The Deadline" By Kiki Swinson

As they say in the old school days- Never judge a book by its cover!

This has all the ear markings for one great and powerful read and I enjoyed it every step of the way.

Kiki Swinson is a new author to me but Kensington Books is not and I trust their judgement to bring me great authors.

I read Kiki's profile & was impressed because this lovely and beautiful woman went from the life of hard knocks literally serving 5 years in prison to the life of true grit and determination in carving her path to success.

I'm so proud and honored to have read her work as it was magnificent as a stand alone thriller piece.

The characters are lively, vivid, and most certainly active in dealing with life and survival in general terms.

Kloe Mercer is our main gal who currently is working as an off air reporter seeking to move up to the news desk with style.

When a front page story hits about a local murder she does everything she can to get the first scoop and risk life and limb to do such in Virginia while trying to not make herself a target for the power brokers who are running the show.

Now it's Kloe's turn to turn up the heat and not stay silent.

Kiki has done a fab job in her storytelling capabilities as you can feel every action or inaction in the progression of this plot.

What starts off as something slow and steady soon comes to a head with fast paced non stop exhilarating action.

The introduction to Anton Barker and subsequent reveal of his true purpose in the story was shocking. After all he's married, with children, but also has a hidden life in the darker world that reveals another side to his persona.

The entire premise around Khloe going undercover to have to find the truth surrounding a young girl that's being exploited in the underground while also seeking justice for her twin brother Kyle after it all went down was like a sucker punch with a wound that never fully healed.

Anton deserves to rot in the hell he created and I'm so pleased this ended the way it did as you wanted to get right in on this action yourself and scare the culprits straight.
This was a fantastic thriller from a new author for me. I'm so excited to see what more she has in store for us.

Thank you to Kiki, Kensington Books, NetGalley, and Amazon Kindle for this ARC in exchange for this honest review.
