Book Review: "The Darkest Evening" By Ann Cleeves

Imagine this scenario: You're driving down the winter roads, in rural location, and miss a turn in the roadway causing disorientation for Detective Inspector Vera Stanhope.

Of course, you come to your senses when you immediately spot a car with its door wide open that skidded off the roadway.

You come up to the vehicle and find nobody in the driver's seat but a baby crying in the back seat.
You presume the driver went for help or better reception so you take the baby to a warmer location such as a nearby mansion in which an Xmas party is going on with a dead woman in the snow just outside the dwelling in Northumberland.

WTH?

Oh, and by the way this grand alluring home was the homestead of Vera's dad Hector and is now run down and drabby.

From there we go full circle with family secrets coming from all angles in wreaking havoc.

A wild ride by Ann Cleeves that once again shows her talent in full bloom.
Thank you to Ann, the pub, NetGalley, and Amazon Kindle for this ARC in exchange for this honest review.
