Book Review: "Loss Lake" By Amber Cowie

A monster resides nearby or so they note but does he truly even exist?...

I love when a thriller comes together, tightly bundled, exuding charm, completely chilling, and downright stunning!

This is a fast turner with all the heart stopping action you'd expect from a Lake Union author such as Amber Cowie.

In this situation we have a widow name Mallory Dent who recently moved to McNamara after her husband's passing two years earlier. She's originally from Vancouver and the area appears lovely at first glance.

That's until death creeps along the shore. Casting an illuminous glow upon those who inhabit the area surrounding the waters edge.

Sure it's creepy as all heck but in a weird way it reminded me of the Lockness Monster -type of feel- in which you wonder - what if it's true?

Luckily for Mallory she's got Sergeant Joel Benson on her side who recently lost his own brother Sean.

Who knew the freaky connection these two would possess....

Of course, let's not forget that body on the shore. It turns out it's Alice and she has or was it had a son named Dean...

Everyone in town seems to know a tid-bit or two on this family that was found by a logger working on a dam.

In fact, Jonathan Shine was the person responsible for finding her body.

Oh, by the way before I forget - it seems trouble was in paradise- for Mallory as she's on the verge of divorce - or was- till Graham's death via heart issues.

So, it may just not be a party town after all unless you ask Dean, but if we were to ask Cynthia- well lets just say she's got her eye on Mallory but not in a good way...it's more suspicion.

I can tell you this in closing because Cynthia seems to have met her match...

"Innocent people don't die in Loss Lake..."

Let that tingle you to the bone.

This was a superb thriller for the summer of 2020!

Thank you to Amber Cowie, the Lake Union Publishers, NetGalley, and Amazon Kindle for this ARC in exchange for this honest review.
