Book Review: "The Wicked RedHead" By Beatriz Williams

The Wicked Redhead was quite the experience in not only time but in historical measures.

This was the framing of prohibition, showgirls, rum runners, bootleggers, pirates, and more and Beatriz did a magnificent time going between two periods from 1924 -1998 flawlessly.

I've not read Coco Beach nor The Wicked City of which the epilogue began with Gin and continued through the first book in the series followed up by this second work.

So I went into this unaware of the characters or their relationships yet it stood alone pretty well in my opinion even without the background being laid out for me to build upon.

There's enough here to really keep one intrigued especially with the added touch of a woman in peril between an estranged spouse and a man she loves and adores while being faced with the struggles of being pregnant and trying to fulfill desires.

The topic of abortion did come up but also of a man doing the right thing and stepping up to the table of another man's plate which was nice to see.

Ella of course wants to divorce Patrick due to his cheating ways and was in the mist of that idea when the pregnancy was uncovered.

Meanwhile, Gin or Ginger as she was known was also in a bind of sorts having fallen in love with Anson aka Oliver (Ollie) who was sent to deal with the pirates with the Coast Guard.

The secretive twist with Ella and her father was also another angle that was not on my radar especially when readers learn that her mother had a similar story to tell.

The redheaded photograph was the focus when Ella had become dehydrated and passed out. Nevertheless, she wakes up to a whole new reality check with Hector and the same is true for Gin Kelly with Oliver.

So, I suppose all's well that ends well...

I perhaps will now go back and read the others to fill in a few gaps but this was good as a stand alone and I would recommend reading it.
