However, before you go thinking,"Here we go again" ...You'll be pleasantly surprised as this in no way reads as a YA and deals with quite a few adult situations.
Mental illness, sexual orientation and or preference, personality trait disorders, suicides, etc.. which are not easy topics to address are tackled here.
With this said I was lost in this murder club world from the start and mesmorized by the back and forth 'whodunnit' feel that the author portrayed in epic fashion.
My word Karen has nailed these characters with gusto - giving each one a voice- and each one a role to play here in the death of poor Simon.
After all it all began with Simon but how did he die and is anyone of these friends responsible?
Could his death have been a mere accident? A poison? A suicide? Or worse...what if someone was framed for murder?
Could it be Simon was also in on this? What if he knew too much? What if he was holding secrets?
What if someone wanted him silenced forever?
WOW!
No really this was a plot that some readers may be able to figure out based on substantial clues throughout while others may fall for those bits and pieces as gold and believe in fallacies...
Which way you go is up to you but safe to say you will find yourself moving ahead pondering every piece of evidence that comes your way.
These bygone days are remembered fondly and this author did a great job at bringing them back in that nieve yet gullible way in which sometimes as teens we truly think we know it all so I leave with these quotes...
“You find out who your real friends are when stuff like this happens. Turns out I didn’t have any…”
Boy if this ain't the truth...
But here we have this one," “If I'm not thinking about one shit storm, I have to think about another.”
Yes, but we don't want to be all moody so lets end on a good note ..
“I know what it's like to tell yourself a lie so often that it becomes the truth.”
BINGO!
Enjoy this read!!!
