Book Review: "The Burning Girls" By CJ Tudor

That was one of the greatest mind taxing, gothic twisting, crazy as hell ,twisty thrillers I've ever read by the master of suspense, mystery, intrigue and awe- no other than-CJ (CAZ) Tudor!

I won't beat around the bush and give pleasantries galore but I'm a huge fan that's more like a stalker; having read every one of her books and was floored in tears when she responded letting me know I was one of the first to read this newest work -The Burning Girls!

It was my honor and such a privilege because I've admired her for her strength, courage, charisma, and darkness of her writing style that leaps off the page and grabs you -forcing you-to not only take notice of her but to cheer her on!

I'm normally a speed reader/trade blogger/unpaid reviewer who goes through books like hot cakes but this deserved my undivided and special attention so I slowed it down to absorb every word.

If you're like me you love a great thriller that keeps you on your toes, guessing the mystery, feeling the intriguing suspense, and sharpening the claws for the next power struggle that you know is about to brew.

This has all that and more as The Burning Girls addresses not just deaths of Martyrs, but two missing girls presumed dead, the purge of the protestants, possible suicides, and several murders with several exploratory twists that will throw you off your game & your mark -so hold on tight!

Dolls have been made to ward off the 'girls vengeful spirits' as they may still be haunting the chapel.

If ever there was a time for prayer, reflection, hope...or scratch that ---we need prayer as a useful medium--stat!

If you're that hip and or cool parent like me you might've watched the Blair Witch Project and CJ Tudor has brought that to life in a whole mind blowing way right to your darn doorstep!

Let me ask you this: Do you believe in ghosts, witchcraft, spirits?

Did you answer, YES??

Ok, proceed to this question- Do you believe in faith, religious beliefs, persecution, heaven and or hell, the Devil and or Satan, God and or a higher power??

YES? Good!

Proceed to this- Do you believe this statement as factual: "Good does not always triumph over evil. Prayers do not win battles. Sometimes, we need the devil on our side."

Ladies and Gents we have a village that was stormed and so much evil resulted in its wake. These girls have experienced some of the worst of humanity and beyond.

With this noted, we need hope, we need prayers, we even may need a key to the chapel.

Oh, wait....got it --Rushton and Aaron are on it.

Look at this- Jack Brooks is the 'parent' of Flo who goes by a surname but I won't disclose that personal information.

We must come to grips with sin being eternal, with death being everlasting, and with the notion of evil being among us-toxicity isn't dressed up as the devil in disguise.

"The best place to hide is in plain sight."

Psychopaths are known for mixing in much like narcissists as they're chameleons-able to adapt to any environment-so don't forget it!

Church in the past was viewed as a place of salvation, rest for the weary, comfort zone if you will for those who have sinned. It was a place of warmth.

However, in recent years it's been a place where abuse of power, corruption, greed, have become the new norm and much of it is just coming to light.

CJ Tudor (CAZ) to friends is such a powerful writer that creates this land of the unknown in which you are dragged into (ok, I went willingly); and left to explore; before exiting back into the reality check of life.

I'm not sure how you can say this other than bullying, suicide, murder, and mayhem is on the menu and is being served up by various characters in an array of epic proportion for your reading pleasure.

A missing knife from the exorcism is the key like in the game of Clue but it doesn't end there as we embark on this journey that was captivating, exhilirating, and downright creepy.

Dust off the cobwebs, check that basement cellar, turn on the outside lights, get nestled in under that blankie and for God's sake don't SCREAM!!! You may wake up the ghosts...

My best advice -grab the journal-you'll need it. Jot down the notes to keep it straight. Focus, Focus, Focus my friends as you're in for the ride of your life.

I leave you the best way I know how and that's with another fine quote: "Darkness is exciting, darkness is fun, darkness is beautiful, darkness is kind."

So much action, suspense, thrilling take away memories on this one that I can't narrow it down to one plot, one character, or one twisty bender.

It's just chock full of 'Nuts' and I'm just that kind of woman that likes NUTS!

Do not be afraid of the dark because what kind of person would you be if you were?....

***As noted earlier, this was such an honor and a blessing to be chosen among the first to read The Burned Girls!

My life is now complete and I can carry on and I hope you as well get such a chance. It's a once in a lifetime treat.
