Book Review: "The Midwife Murders" By James Patterson

“That last line—“ Stick to delivering babies”—is the one that really kicks me hard in the stomach. I know Blumenthal is being sensible. Maybe he’s even absolutely right. But now I’m in that weird position of not being able to back down. I search for a defense. And I come up with a really shitty one. “I’m trying to be proactive,” I say. “Proactive?” he says, loud enough for a few of the people at the other end of the room to suddenly look toward us. “Proactive? Proactive is the dumbest new made-up word in the English language. It’s a synonym, a synonym for wasting time, for making a lot of noise for no real reason.”― James Patterson, The Midwife Murders

This about sums it all up for me as Lucy is one strong single mom however she's missing more than just the point when it comes to childbirth, pregnancy, and the dismantling of women's bodies for their stolen children.

Could someone be trying to purchase babies on the black market? What about Russian Mafia involvement?

This hit many nerves as a feminist, a single mom of three with med disabled son for life, a mother who had no choice but to have an emergency c section with placental abruption, a woman in general terms, and as an intellect.

I just couldn't go along to get along with this one. The motives behind cutting women's bodies and stealing kids wasn't in my mindset and I can't imagine how a midwife would even feel upon the topic.

However, this duo is sure to ruffle some feathers with this new work so proceed with caution.

I had placed this new piece on hold at my local library and hope you too can support your local libraries during these trying times.
