Book Review: "The Spires" By Kate Moretti

When the past comes knocking you might be better off to ignore it.

Penelope Cox is in the prime of her life. She's got to teens, an unemployed spouse, and a busy career.

Her friend Willa arrives on her doorstep in need of help from escaping an abusive husband.
What's two weeks among friends?

Twenty years prior these two gals and three other friends lived together as one calling themselves, "The Spires." They resided in this converted church living large and in charge while enjoying ever second.

Fast forward and this entire gang of ladies has been altered in more ways than one.
In fact, nothing is as it appears to be and the friendships they once shared seem to have fallen to the waste side in exchange for more lucrative prospects.

This story was quite alluring, intriguing, and actively engaging.

The minute this one started I just knew it would be a bang up job that would leave me in a state of heightened excitement.

Kate Moretti is an author that I've enjoyed reading over the years. Granted I'm a newbie reader and reviewer active since 2015 but it's been interesting going along for the fun with all her novels.

No two of her books are ever the same and each one seems to reach new heights and new levels of challenges and success.

In this case Willa is our main gal with quite a story to tell and equal parts of sexual splendor.
Man alive this girl was too busy for her own britches.

As it turns out what finally slowed things down was a fire.
Prior to the back and forth of the 'then and now' section I was pondering what the heck was going on here as we were fed crumbs to follow.

It felt like a scavenger hunt to see if you could get the whole picture to form in your mind and it drove me insane, in a good way- of course!

One could only wonder what Willa was thinking as well as the other ladies during this time.
Eventually they all suffer serious consequences for their actions and you might say involvement in one another's lives.

This wasn't short on tension, nail biting emotions, and raw sexual appeal.
As this plays out Willa becomes the perfect house guest but in a creepy feel attached.
We start to question underlying motives, true intentions, and desperate actions.
Just when you thought it would sizzle out suddenly more bread crumbs are tossed and it lures you in an entirely new direction.
Sisters of fate you might call them.

However, 'No Worries' because they all have a role to play in this explosive thriller.
Who would think- Jack? Grace? Bree? Trent? Flynn? Or even for that matter Grace's sister -Talia?
What roles did all these people play?

Didn't someone die in the church house fire?

Yes, indeed and you'll never guess how the story took shape following not only the fire but also the ....

Oh, wait- This just in! Breaking News: A kidnapping has just been reported.

You know there's nothing worse than "infection of one's soul" now is there?
This was bursting with excitement.

Thank you to Kate Moretti, the pub, NetGalley, and Amazon Kindle for this ARC in exchange for this honest review.
