Book Review: "Whiteout" By Alexander Lowe

Snow preparation, blizzards, snow removal, safety precautions, hypothermia, weather (causes/effect), and so much more is at the center of this comic book styled novel entitled, Whiteout.

Upon reading the background of both authors it's clear how this book came to be, the structured aspect and the style with a format that was conducive to learning for young children.
The illustrations were clear. The coloring vivid. The language was kept simple and the ease of use was perfect.

The helpful glossary at the end along with additional reading on this subject matter further enhanced the reading material that was absorbed.

The fact that the children in this story were excited to go skiing near Lake Michigan was an interesting way to tackle 'lake effect snow' and then to add their Uncle who's a snow plow driver was a great way to showcase the caring aspect in helping assist stranded motorist while keeping the roads clear for emergency vehicles and first responders who must be out in those blizzards.

The Storm of the Century during '93 was also discussed with mention of Florida receiving snow which was an interesting tidbit along with NYC in 1888 storms that had 40 MPH winds with 2 feet of snow.
All in all a great little read that was quick and easy for an adult and something that would be just right for a young child.

Thank you to Alexander Lowe, the pub, NetGalley, and Amazon Kindle for this ARC in exchange for this honest review.
