Book Review: "The Truth and Other Hidden Things" by Lea Geller

Fresh! Dynamic! Powerful! Bloggers unite!

The Truth and Other Hidden Things was such a delightful read by Lea Geller.

It begins with a young mother named Bells Walker AKA County Dutchess and she's telling it like it is about her new community in Pigkill.

Needless to say she's uncovering a host of worthy pay to play schemes and get rich quick maneuvers that would make anyone blush. For her husband Harry his tenure with his new job is on the line so she's got to be careful.

Walking this tightrope between reality and snarky is this idea that these scandals need to be publicized and brought to light.

There's been much news lately on similar incidences involving SAT/ACT scoring and bored and wealthy parents seeking to help their kids get an edge up on the competition.

With this noted, we find similar activities being played out here, with a farm -to- table utopia that really brings in the goods.

Well , actually if by goods, you mean 'hot young men' being paid with expensive meals that they'd then be able to exchange for cash which is quite an operation in and of itself.

Now, we can chat up using these Chore Donkey apps but the real power play is in the discussion around these schemes. What's up -sex for candles- sex for groceries- and where's the local administration of these colleges and universities.

Shouldn't someone be keeping a watchful eye on things?

What can one say when the stakes are high...some are desperate and others use their power, prestige, and influence to gain the upper hand.

This was a great story about more than just the truth being exposed but about how far some will go to 'belong' in with the elites.

If you really want to know the income equality don't just follow Covid vaccine distribution stories but actually send your kids to private schools while being poor and watch them flutter around in their glory.

It's a powerful story that was enriched with strong characters and the perfect setting to create this lovely work.

Thank you to the Lea Geller, the pub, Netgalley, and Amazon kindle for this ARC in exchange for this honest review.
