I had more than a few challenging issues with this one as I've not read the prior original novel.
As with everything these days the novel was a hit and miss scenario. The comic style graphics were ok but it left little room for the written word.
Therefore, it felt choppy as if you would have a few small structured sentences and then 5-10 pictures and then all of a sudden a few more words.
The words themselves seemed a bit off and didn't seem to flow properly and as an adult my eyesight nearing 50 years isn't as good as it once was therefore I had to zoom in using kindle and slide left to right when reading which made it tedious.
The story itself was pretty good about this girl Mary who was supposed to grow in sequence with the garden. However, we lost some of that uniqueness because of the format that was being used.
All in all I'm glad the sick boy was able to partake in the action and find his way.
As for all else-this was good and solid.
