Book Review: "Hush Little Girl" By Lisa Regan

Lisa Regan has done it again and this time she's brought along an artillery of individuals to keep the momentum swinging right from the start.

These characters were everything, the plot was rock solid, the power struggles in play along with the blindsides that occurred were plentiful and heart stopping, and the tension rose faster and stronger than any of her previous works. This novel in my view was one of her bests if not the best one yet of this thriller series entitled, Detective Josie Quinn.

If you've not read the previous ones -no worries- I've not read them all in order as I bounce around myself based on what I can find, so it's not a prerequisite or even a requirement as this stands well on its own.

I'm born and raised outside of Central Pennsylvania in the Northeastern part of this Keystone State. I've read many books on this area especially surrounding our major hub areas like Philly and Harrisburg but this one put me in the mood for some down home boondock action.

I couldn't flip these pages fast enough on my Kindle and I think I wore my Kindle out. This had everything beginning with Holly Mitchell's death shortly after this incident with Josie/Noah a runaway deer darting out from the country roads and of course, a stranger giving them a ride.

It proceeds into this magnificent tale of suspense, mystery, and so much intrigue that I didn't know what was coming at me and considering I'm a high energy (ADHD) individual that's saying plenty.

When you write with such lushness that I can feel every emotion as an empath that's perfection!

Lisa brings the heat and intensity with fast paced non stop action.

Lorelei is offered a ride but little did we know what's yet to come.

In fact, 12 year old Holly Mitchell is found on the church steps of Denton with a pine cone doll on her chest.

Talk about freaky and chilling but that's not the first doll and it won't be the last.

Detective Josie Quinn is working overtime on this one trying to uncover all the trinkets to this puzzle. She goes from being the hunter to darn near becoming the hunted.

Lorelei sadly perishes at home and the sister of this family is now missing.

Where can Emily have gone? Why? Was she abducted?

My word it's like finding a needle in a haystack ...

These doll of twigs are found. It's mental madness. It's insanity. It's bizarre.

Not as bizarre perhaps as knowing that there's burnt photos and letters in a greenhouse.

WTH?

Seriously, it seems somebody knows something, is hiding secrets, and that iceberg of truths is about to be uncovered.

You know how with toxic individuals you only see the top portion of the iceberg as the bottom portion is often out of view.

Yes, well--this is that iceberg- and man the ship's about to go down.

The third doll was just revealed upon a windshield of all places.

BREAKING NEWS!!!

Watch out- Josie has her own story to tell. Lila Jenson had done something to her as a baby and luckily for her Lisette took over from there.

Now, folks there's a thing called rigor mortis and sadly you're on the wrong side of the fence when that happens.

In other words Holly and Lorelei's deaths already had full rigor set in prior to being located.

Who would do such a thing to these ladies?

Let me ask this: Will bad things happen?

Is Emily hiding?

Is Rory guilty of unspeakable crimes based on his own personality disorders?

Has Rory a secret past?

OH CRAP... More Breaking News...Reed Bryan has just been found dead.

This just put a wrench in this winding road of horror.

Lisa Regan has put so many twists in this road that's like driving a car in full speed and nearly going off the cliff while struggling to keep it on the pavement - in the best of ways.

It's not over ....

You know this reminds me of something..

As a country bumpkin formerly residing in the boondocks we used to listen to country songs all the time.

One of my favorites and newbies is - Bless the Broken Road. Lisa Regan might agree with me on this thought - it's quite a song.

I digress...because when you're looking for love in all the wrong places you sometimes may show vulnerability and some toxic personas pick up on this subtle trait.

They prey upon people that have been given a hard life, that lack confidence, that perhaps misplaced their gut reactions with love bombing.

Just sayin'

If you think about it DNA never lies and you can't always claim it was the milkman's as a figure of speech.

The kids for me were the best thing that came out of a toxic relationship but not everyone is as blessed as myself.

What I can leave you with is this: "You were worth all of it."

Lisa Regan is most certainly deserving of any literary award she can receive for this top notch novel.

A must read for 2021!

Thank you profusely to Lisa Regan, Bookouture, NetGalley, and Amazon Kindle for this ARC in exchange for this honest review.
