While there's plenty of warm hearted moments filled with excerpts from the original letters there's also an abrupt ending with too much back and forth between these four generations.
This new work starts off with Annelise and her parents who reside in Germany. The parents are owners of a bakery and the daughter fearing Anti-Jewish Sentiment fears for her life. She flees with her family and prays her parents can join them.Years later their daughter Ruthie finds these letters that Annelise sent to her great grandmother Klara in expressing her concerns for reuniting.
Clare then takes these letters to heart knowing her future is at stake in drawing a clearer picture of her past history and the movement forward.
This novel addresses these various relationships between these four generations of ladies in equal format in a good light however, the problem lies with the ease of transition between it all and the lack of a formidable conclusion without an abrupt end.
Thank you to Lauren Fox, the pub, NetGalley, and Amazon Kindle for this ARC in exchange for this honest review.
