Book Review: "Complications" By Danielle Steel

The Grand Reopening of the famous boutique hotel - Hotel Louis XVI- awaits your arrival!

Step inside and behold the majestic beauty and try not to be overcome by the emotions of the day, trip over a footstool, and succumb to your injuries. However, suicide is never the answer but divorce may just be the key to a newfound love interest.

What if your suffering from sickness-leukemia- and you find your on the cusp of remission or better your cured!

Life is splendid for some and miserable for others but it's all part of this journey together.

Or, as Danielle Steel's introduction to this novel notes, "A successful art consultant arrives at the hotel for the first time since her brutal divorce, and is surprised to find new love—if she is willing to risk her heart again. A new guest contemplates ending his life, and saves a life instead. A couple finds their once-in-a-lifetime trip interrupted by a tragic medical emergency, leaving the idyllic future they’ve long waited for hanging in the balance. And one of the hotel’s most high-profile guests, a French politician and assumed presidential candidate, holds a mysterious meeting in his suite that will threaten his life and legacy. Rocked by the events of this one fateful night, guests and staff alike brace themselves for the aftershock, as it quickly becomes apparent that more dramas and misfortunes are still in store."

I fell in love with each relationship and couldn't imagine this book without them all equally pulling their weight.

The romance between Gabrielle and Alastair was just beautiful with many unexpected blessings in tying the knot and going the extra mile together. He seriously may not have made it without her husband's betrayal as the stars certainly aligned between them for their benefit.

As for Richard and Judythe they welcomed in a new bundle and was provided the name of his savior SAM as in SAMU and not after the hotel.

I'm thrilled that Alice made out well in her divorce proceedings and was awarded full ownership of the apartment among other items.

Patrick Martin was in a coma, on a respirator, and struggling after his conviction  - "now that's one truly bad man." - Yes, indeed!

"It's strange how life works, isn't it?" Luckily, he wasn't advised of his divorce and dissolution of his marriage.

Guess it sucks for him that he won't be able to secure employment in his line of work ever again! However, he road the coattails and lived off the perks so it's time to pay back to the piper.

Sergei Karpov may he rest in peace -poor soul- lost in this altercation-with Patrick. Their secret is out and so too are the payments of silence that was offered up but nothing changes the deceased legacy in the eyes of many.

This was truly a splendid piece with many players, plenty of action, and non stop twists that really showcased the excellent creative writing of Danielle Steel.

She's a breath of fresh air and every book she writes transports me to a higher level.

Thank you to Danielle Steel, the publisher, NetGalley, and Amazon Kindle for this ARC in exchange for this honest review.
