Book Review: "What She Knew" By Karen Long

"You have played God with their minds" is the chilling detail that is evidenced in this newest creation by the wonderfully talented Karen Long.

As a fan of Karen's as well as Bookouture I was hoping this would be a nail biter but instead was a steady stream of constant chaos beginning with our female heroine Eleanor and her detective sleuthing skills.

The plot starts off slow but builds in intensity with various degrees of death and destruction that seem to constantly pour in with literally one dead body after the next in various locations with varying degrees of damage done to the bodies.

Obviously, there's a connector piece among them all but it's up to Eleanor and the rest of the team to try to literally dissect this piece by tiny piece or shall I say what's left of these bodies because cannibalism as well as cruelty in disposal comes into play.

The human mind is definitely exquisite in detail but what if those details falter due to memory lapses, PTSD, or other mental impairments that are deeply troubling. So troubling that a therapist is required to perform an evaluation.

Eddie Myles was a deeply disturbed man and perhaps this was why Angela Myles was in the state of fight or flight when she heard that initial knock at the door which alarmed her enough to bolt out the back door.

As this story escalates we encounter a death of his wife Sonny Maitland and another suspicious death of Millie Goldsmith with Veronica Sizemore and Carrie Eddows soon to follow.

Rula Frears isn't really dealt with till the end but it's a wrap with her son that leads to more disturbing consequences and deadly repercussions.

There's no turning back ...

Dr. Launceston was the therapist but he's also on deck for sending someone out beyond his initial practice to assist him which he eventually does manage to wipe someone off the map.

The ending seemed a bit abrupt for me without much closure on this one.

I hope you enjoyed this review as I wish to thank Bookouture, Karen Long, NetGalley, and Amazon Kindle for this ARC in exchange for this honest review.
