Rise is a beautifully illustrated and wonderful new biography about Maya Angelou for young readers around the globe.
The narration is splendid with full descriptive accounts of a young woman who suffered trauma, who found solace in books, who rose to the occasion and defeated the odds.
A woman who in her later years inspired us all to Rise out from the ashes and shine like no tomorrow!
Angelou reading her poetry was just a small highlight of this book that included a timeline of her most important events in history.
Well written, well crafted, and well portrayed -this book has it all- for anyone interested in the life and times of a woman many of us hold near and dear to our hearts.
