Book Review: "Kill All Your Darlings" By David Bell

College is such an interesting, fun, educational, and enlightening place to grow into something so profound and splendid.

However, who would expect a college to be the first place you'd seek in processing a murder-mystery?

David Bell has hit the mark once again with this powerful thriller!
Ironically, I didn't read the premise prior to requesting this ARC because it's a David Bell book and so, I was just arriving home, from of all places my son's college English professor's office for his acceptance into their national honor society, when I decided to partake in this adventure.

I'm so glad I picked this up because Kill All Your Darlings was packed full of intrigue, mystery, and suspense in a manner that invited readers in for the ride.

What a ride it was both literally and figuratively because that's exactly how Sophia died -behind the wheel- now, we just have to determine why?
Who would kill this innocent woman and better was it a single killer on the loose, a mass murderer, a jealous lover, a jilted friend, or was this a group effort?

So, much on the plate to devour but let me tell you this was twisty and emotionally pulling in every direction.

It began with the English Professor -Connor-being accused of some heinous crimes such as using another woman's thesis to claim credit for himself. The missing student in question is named Madeleine and she's since returned to spoil the fun and claim ownership.
However, another murder has occurred and Connor is on the hot seat for it all!
After all, he claims it's his work so he's now going to have to deal with the fall out from this mind blowing novel.

You know college is also known for being loose, party atmosphere, and a drinking location and that's what was partially in mind here as we work to untangle the clues to Sophia's sudden departure.

Could her husband Zachary be involved?
Did a former classmate do something uncanny?

David Bell has been a go-to- guy in my opinion because he never disappoints. His writing is always clear, precise, and captivating.

Yes, I'm a huge fan and I'm so honored to have read this ARC because it captures everything thriller books should divulge and expand upon.
The setting was perfect, the interaction between characters was exhaustive, the mental exchange was exhilirating.

Someone has to know something. What if someone was afraid to speak? Could silence be bought?

Oh, boy! So, much is in play here.
Perhaps, there's more to this than meets the eye. Behind the scenes action is building.
Tension is rising.

Someone just blurted out what she knew about that horrific day.
Now, a man is about to experience his own demise!
YIKES!!

This is a fast paced -edge of the seat-hair tingling- novel!
I can tell you that there's sexual harassment, sexual assault, suicide, drinking, physical abuse, and more -so, be on guard.

In addition, I will note that locally our colleges have seen plenty of hazing incidences, sexual assault, crimes of passion, and sexual abuse. This is an important topic for discussing whether or not more needs to be done in the reporting of these crimes and how they should be properly handled and prosecuted.

The chain of command is one such factor that truly should be addressed more forcefully and I hope that this book will shed light on this important discussion surrounded by the #MeToo movement.
