In the past several years of writing reviews for blog tours I've never been late until now and with good reason.
What happens in this story was so powerful, so dynamic, so riveting that it truly made me pause and reflect not just upon the historical value from a replica of Grace Kelly's fashionable wedding dress but from a family dynamic that refused to let go of tradition and of love.
It's that latter word love that resonated so deeply as though these women may have had hardships the empathy, the compassion, the follow up even with therapy it's all so darn good.
You might worry is this the book for me- I'm not much into fashion, or that girly girl feel, or chick lit and this was more than just historical fiction this was charming, exquisite, and alluring.
Having grown up as a gal with a rough edge as a tomboy with three brothers being the only gal left me with similar mannerisms as Rocky (aka Rachel) but without the tats.
Each of these three women are relatable and extend through three time zones from the late 50's to the early 80's to current times.
Each young women faces choices in their lives, changes, and you could say pain.
We begin with a lonely post war WWII seamstress and move to an 80's college soon to be bride facing an enormous secret from Joan her mother, and then again we find a rough and tough outer exterior with Rocky.
Each young lady wants to make alterations with the latter wishing it null and void all together. Heck she's a casual boots, pants, and tee kind of woman.
With each story we fall in love in more ways than one and I can't imagine writing such a complex piece of work and having it seamlessly flow with short and quick bursts of chapters that capture every touching moment.
We have so many hardships and heartbreaks throughout but what a statement to show the process of evolving.
WOW!!
Thank goodness for this ARC to have found its way to me and I hope you are equally as lucky.
Thank you to Brenda, the publisher, NetGalley and all those who were able to secure this book into my hands.
Enjoy!!
