"A man consumed by a meaningless life is going to do something he’s never considered doing before. He’s going to enjoy the day…"
Yes, yes he is an in epic fashion too...
I absolutely fell in love with this one and if you have an ounce of empathy, compassion, and love within I believe you will too.
This was superb as it shows us the journey and character development of a man deeply flawed and always a 'Debbie Downer.'
The fact that he had to change because of a 'diary aka Filofax' that highlighted each day with thoughtful perspectives and quotes was a god send.
It's exactly what he needed to remind him of his long lost mother whom he never knew what happened to her.
He learns about himself and his past through reflection, pain, and ultimately hope for brighter more positive days.
He wasn't always this way and this is why I enjoyed this remarkable yet painfully personal reflection of himself through his own inner demons, connections, and outer supportive structure.
Jonathan is our main guy whose 42 yo; divorced from his remarried ex wife Tina, but also a man that's in need of change.
He goes out on a run and returns to a bike with a bag and a diary over the handlebars.
The lettering within reminds him of his mother Sophia.
We later learn the importance of both his parents including his dad -Wolfgang- who has dementia- and wrongfully thought another woman was his wife.
Everything comes together after some revelations and twisters that result in a man coming to terms with his present, his past, and his future.
The other main character Hannah was a back and forth situation in which we see the two slowly in separate lives coming together to unite in this 'perfect year.'
Hannah was waiting-waiting for love-waiting for a proposal-waiting on Simon hand and foot.
Until that fateful day when Simon became ill and his life changed with a terminal illness.
His response to the illness resulted in so much unbearable and unspeakable pain upon Hannah yet she pulled through to uncover a movie theater and a man.
Never say never when love is on the horizon...
The sun always sets and the sun always shines!
Stay in faith!
